The appropriate skin care after the summer

What the sun does to our skin

Summer holidays are over and you feel totally recovered and balanced. Unfortunately, your mirror picture tells a different story. The first tan has disappeared and numerous sun bathes, chlorine, wind and air conditions make your skin look pale and stressed. The callused skin has thickened because of the sun and a light callosity has been built. That is why the skin is rougher and flakier as usually and needs more moisture. Furthermore, free radicals are built by the UV radiation and collagen fibres, the supporting tissue of our skin, are reduced. Especially during the summer months, many people also complain about small brown pigment spots looking like freckles which are caused by UV radiation.

The proper after-care for summer skin

Generally, your skin should not be neglected at any time of the year. Nevertheless, it is particularly important to take intensive care of your skin after the summer and the annual beach holiday. Take this as an opportunity to have a professional beauty treatment at your aesthetician.

Peelings restore radiance to the skin

In a first step, you should free your skin from dead skin cells. “Professional” peelings done by an aesthetician such as the GREEN PEEL® herbal peeling treatment, fruit acid peelings or even micro-dermabrasion are ideal in this case. These special peelings work more intensively than a peeling done at home and provide new freshness and radiance. A peeling, whether done by an aesthetician or at home, stimulates the blood flow and thus the regeneration of your skin. Afterwards, the skin is very receptive and ingredients can better penetrate into the skin. A high supply of moisture is now very important. Products with moisturizing ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, allantoin as well as alginates are perfect. So called hydration boosters are ideal for a quick care effect: highly-concentrated serums or ampules.

Treat your skin with a moisture treatment

Even if we do not realize it immediately, our skin steadily loses moisture during the warm and sun intensive months. Nevertheless, please do not follow the principle “more is more” by using greasy and very rich products. They often only operate superficially and do not penetrate into the deeper skin layers. You will first get the impression that your skin has been moisturized, but you will wash away many ingredients with the next shower and thus a sustainable effect cannot be guaranteed. Rather go for products which bind and feed moisture. Cure treatments are strongly recommended within these days besides the daily care. For best results, applying an intensive moisturizing mask once a week is recommended.

Reduce hyperpigmentation successfully

To counteract pigment spots, so called hyperpigmentation, you should use creams with brightening ingredients. Classic ingredients such a vitamin C, salicylic acid, arbutin etc. as well as herbal complexes from olive leaf extracts, ascorbyl glucosides and zinc PCA pursue this type of effects. It is very important to avoid light and use the care products permanently for at least 3 months. This is the only way the skin can recover perfectly and dismantle the excess melanin which causes the hyperpigmentation.
